Mrs. Mary K. Griffin, age 84 of Ellijay, passed away on Friday, November 25th, 2022 at the Piedmont Mountainside Hospital in Jasper.

Mrs. Griffin was born on May 22nd, 1938 in Wilkes County to the late James and Lila Mae Calloway Swanson. She was retired from Wal-Mart. Mrs. Griffin was also a member of Salem Baptist Church. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Rev. E.D. Griffin.

Survivors include her son, Eddie Griffin; daughter, Rita Keener; two brothers, Freddie Swanson and Murl Swanson; sister, Frances Smith of Kennesaw; two grandchildren, Matthew Keener and Adam Keener; eight great grandchildren; seven great-great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews also survive.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, November 28th at 2:00 pm from the chapel of Bernhardt Funeral Home with Rev. Brian Hensley and Rev. Jamie Kerr officiating. Interment will follow in the Chastain Memorial Park in Blue Ridge. Pallbearers serving will be Matthew Keener, Adam Keener, Joseph Keener, Nicholas Chadwick, Landen Siniard, Randy Chadwick, and honorary pallbearer Nathan Keener.

The family will receive friends on Sunday, November 27th from 1:00 pm until 8:00 pm at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made, in memory of Mrs. Mary Griffin, to the Salem Baptist Church Food Pantry in care of Gary Hyde. The family respectfully asks that no food be brought to the funeral home.
