Mary Jane
Weeks
d. Apr 24, 2026
Ellijay
Mrs. Mary Jane Weeks of Ellijay, Georgia, passed away on April 24, 2026.
Mary Jane was born to the late Cliff Reece and Elsie Wright Reece. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Ellijay. Throughout her career, she worked as a secretary and dedicated many years as a bookkeeper, known for her diligence and reliability. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, James Weeks.
Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Marissa and Marc Brower.
We often hear people say that someone "never met a stranger," but for Mary Jane Weeks, that wasn't just a phrase; it was a mission. Mary Jane had a personality that was truly bigger than life. She had a way of looking at the world as if she were responsible for everyone having a good time. If she saw someone sitting alone, she didn't see a stranger; she saw a friend she hadn't met yet. She made sure no one felt invisible, and she did it with a quick wit and a laugh that stayed with you long after she left the room.
Mary Jane loved her friends with her whole heart. She didn't just tell you she loved you; she showed you. Many of her friends have a treasure tucked away at home, a poem written just for them. That was Mary Jane's gift. She took the time to put her heart into verses, making sure her friends knew exactly how much they meant to her.
She did all of this while looking absolutely fabulous. Mary Jane was always dressed to the nines. She understood that life was an occasion worth dressing up for. She would hunt down a specific shade of lipstick just to ensure it perfectly matched her outfit, and the perfect pair of high heels was a requirement. She had a flair for the dramatic, a love for shopping, and an enthusiasm for going out to eat with friends that made every meal feel like a celebration.
Mary Jane loved life, and she wasn't afraid to show it. She loved to laugh, she loved to have fun, and let's not forget, she loved to flirt! She moved through the world with a playful spirit that reminded us all not to take things too seriously.
She showed us, by example, what it looks like to live well and love with your whole heart. She didn't hold back. She didn't wait for a "special occasion" to wear her best clothes, give her best smile, or love with her whole heart.
As we remember Mary Jane Weeks, I hope we can all take a little piece of her heart home with us.
To honor her, let us promise to love more deeply. Let us choose to laugh more extravagantly. And, in every situation, let us look to have more fun.
