Mrs. Maxine Jewell Burnette Charles, age 86 of Ellijay, passed away on Wednesday, March 29 ^th , 2023 at her residence.

Mrs. Charles was born on April 6 ^th , 1936 in Pickens, County to the late Mack Burnette and Ada Holland Burnette. She was a graduate of the Gilmer High School, Class of 1954 and a member of the Nine Mile Methodist Church. In addition to her parents. Mrs. Charles is preceded in death by her loving husband, Joseph Charles; two brothers, James Burnette and Gary Burnette, and three sisters, Ouida Burnette Aldredge, Sue Davis, and Joan Godwin.

She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Alan and Kim Charles of Ellijay; daughter and son-in-law, Beth and Tim McArthur of Ellijay; brothers-in-law, Larry Charles, Ken Aldredge, and Vic Davis; sister-in-law, Marsha Burnette; 3 grandchildren, T.J. McArthur, Joe Bob Charles, and Bailey Charles; special friend, Tim Brothers, and several nieces and nephews also survive.

Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, April 6 ^th , 2023 at 3:00 p.m. from the Chapel of Bernhardt Funeral Home with Rev. Jodi Christensen and Rev. Scotty Davis officiating. Interment will follow in the Nine Mile Methodist Church Cemetery. Pallbearers serving will include: Bailey Charles, Joe Bob Charles, T.J. McArthur, Jason Burnette, Bill Aldredge, and Mike Tillson. Honorary Pallbearers will be: Jeff Davis, Scotty Davis, Dean Burnette, Jeffery Davis, Josh Davis, Jarrett, Davis, Zach Aldredge, Drake Aldredge, Bradley Davis, Brett Davis, Brian Davis, and Kaleb Marick.

The family will receive friends on Thursday, April 6 ^th , 2023 from 12:00 p.m. until the funeral hour of 3:00 p.m. at the funeral home.

The family will be accepting flowers; however, they respectfully ask that no food be brought to the funeral home.
