Michael Herbert Bramlett, age 70, departed this life on Saturday, August 26, 2023.
Michael was born on October 22, 1952, to Herbert "Hub" and Nell Vick Bramlett of Whitestone, GA. He was a lifelong resident of Gilmer County and a member of Whitestone Baptist Church. He started dating his wife, Sharon, in 1971, and was married on August 4, 1972. They welcomed three children between 1975 and 1980. Michael worked in many different banks throughout the county during his career before he retired from Truist in 2020. Michael served on the Gilmer County Board of Education for over three decades and was a constant champion for the students and staff of Gilmer County Schools.
In his spare time, Michael was a devout Gilmer Bobcat fan. He enjoyed watching sports on television. He supported the Atlanta Braves, the Atlanta Falcons, and the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets. Michael loved working around the house using his tractor, going antiquing, and spending time with his family. He maintained a close relationship with his brothers. Michael loved talking to people and never met a stranger.
Survivors include wife, Sharon Bramlett of Ellijay; children, Candi (Brad) Davis, Jocelyn (Matt) Vanell, and Michael (Ashley) Bramlett II; grandchildren, Zane, Jack, Chase, Luke, Riley, Maylee, Myla, and Lucy; brothers, Gary (Sherri) Bramlett of Etowah, Keith Bramlett of Ellijay, Kevin (Kelly) Bramlett of Ellijay; sister Debbie Bramlett of Lawrenceville; and several nieces and nephews also survive.
The family will receive friends, on Tuesday, August 29, 2023, from 3:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Bernhardt Funeral Home.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Wednesday, August 30th, 2023 at 2:00 p.m. from the East Ellijay Baptist Church with Rev. Wallace Parks, Rev. Eddy Hensley, GCCSS Board Member, Doug Pritchett, and GCCSS Superintendent, Dr. Brian Ridley. Pallbearers serving will include: Mikey Bramlett, Gary Bramlett, Keith Bramlett, Kevin Bramlett, Brad Davis, Zane Davis, Jack Davis, Matt Vanell, Luke Vanell, Chase Vanell, Danny Hensley, and Forrest Bramlett. Honorary pallbearers will include Michael's former football teammates and friends. Interment will follow in the Pleasant Gap Baptist Church Cemetery.
Flowers will be accepted or donations can be made to the Gilmer Athletic Fund.
