Mr. Michael Hugh Stalcup, age 64 of Clayton, passed away on Sunday, January 8 ^th , 2023 at the NEGA Medical Center.

Michael was born on September 28 ^th , 1958 in Murphy, North Carolina to the late Dallas Hugh Stalcup and Nettie Brendle Stalcup. Michael was employed by Dyno Nobel where he was an explosive tech. He loved the outdoors, hunting, gardening, and loved roses.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Stalcup is preceded in death by his son, Daniel Stalcup.

Michael is survived by his loving wife, Sara J. Cothren Stalcup; daughter and son-in-law, Samantha and Tim Newman; one sister and brother-in-law, Jennifer and Adrian Lee, and seven grandchildren, Tabitha Newman, Charlie Newman, Lacey Newman, Jacob Newman, Haleigh Stalcup, Hannah Stalcup, and Kylan Stalcup.

A private graveside service will be held at Maggies Chapel Cemetery in Murphy, North Carolina with Rev. Jamie Kerr officiating. Pallbearers serving will be: Brandon Brooks, Tyler Lee, Adrian Lee, Tim Newman, Tim Payne, Rich O'Neal, Hemi Holt, Jacob Newman, and Scott Payne.

The family respectfully asks that no food and flowers be brought to the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Stalcup Family in the care of Bernhardt Funeral Home at 163 River Street Ellijay, GA 30540 to help with the funeral expenses.
