Mr. Monte Smith Davenport, age 80 of Ellijay, passed away Thursday, October 26th, 2023 at Parkside Nursing Home.

Mr. Davenport was born on March 8th, 1943 in Ellijay, GA to the late Claude Davenport and the late Janice Smith Davenport. He was a member of the Harvest Missionary Church. Monte loved anything outdoors. He loved fishing, camping, picking his guitar, and riding his motorcycle . He never met a stranger. He had many adopted children. He was a true legend of Gilmer county.  In addition to his parents, Mr. Davenport is preceded in death by his daughter, Tonya Davenport.

Survivors include his son and daughter-in-law, Tyler and Kaylee Davenport of Whiteman AFB, Missouri; daughters and sons-in-law, Monja and Jamie Norwood of Fairmount, Georgia, and Cyndi and Corey Brown of Gwinnett County, Georgia; grandchildren Jax Davenport, Asher Davenport, Ariel Davenport, Snowy Davenport, Jasmine Leatherwood, Joseph Leatherwood, Harmony Norwood, and Tristan Norwood; as well as two great-grandchildren Paxton Leatherwood and Preston Leatherwood also survive.

To honor Mr. Davenport's wishes, he will be cremated and a service will be held in the near future.
