Muriel Frances Boyd Gable, 79, passed away peacefully on Saturday, September 19, 2026.

Muriel was born on June 21, 1947, in Atlanta, Georgia, and was raised in Fairburn. A devoted Christian, wife, mother, grandmother, teacher, and musician, she lived a quiet life grounded in her faith in Jesus Christ and her love for her family.

Muriel graduated from Campbell High School in 1965. While at Campbell, she was a member of the school’s vocal trio, which took first place in the Georgia High School Association state competition. She also received a Betty Crocker Award and was voted “Best Girl” by her classmates. She later graduated from Georgia State University with a degree in music.

In 1969, Muriel married Jerry Gable. They lived in Athens briefly before moving to Roswell, where they raised their two sons. In 2002, the couple moved to Ellijay, which Muriel came to regard as her true home for its peaceful surroundings and closeness to nature.

Muriel had a deep passion for classical and sacred music. She taught private piano lessons, inspiring a love of music in hundreds of students over the years. She also served as secretary and music teacher at Mount Vernon Christian Academy in Buckhead and played piano for the choir at Chalcedon Presbyterian Church in Dunwoody.

Her lifelong faith was the true foundation of her world, providing a constant source of strength and assurance. She leaves behind a family who will miss her dearly, including her husband, Jerry Gable; her brother, George Boyd; her sons, Jeffrey and Philip; and her grandson, Captain.

Muriel will be remembered for her gentle spirit, her beautiful music, her love of plants and flowers, and her steadfast devotion to God and her family.

Visitation will be held at 12:45 p.m. at Bernhardt Funeral Home in Ellijay, followed by a memorial service at 2:00 p.m.
