Philip Anthony West was born in Ellijay, Georgia, on December 8, 1962. He died on February 11, 2025, at Grady Hospital in Atlanta.

Philip grew up in East Ellijay Baptist Church and was baptized in the Cartecay River. He graduated from Gilmer High School, and shortly thereafter joined his Dad in the family business Watkins Auto Supply, which was founded by his great-uncle. Philip loved the outdoors and this beautiful area of north Georgia.

Philip was preceded in death by his son, Douglas Lee West; his mother, Susie Waters West, and his brother, Terry Lee West. Also, his grandparents, Boyd and Azzie Waters and N.A. and Flora May West and many other relatives.

He is survived by his son, Nathan West, and his family Cayla, Haden, Mason, Lance and Addie Lou, and his son, Corey J. West. Also, his father, Ronnie West, and his wife Sue West; sister, Kathy West and her husband, Chris Stearns; Stepbrother, Tim Starks, and family. Numerous nieces and nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins also reside in the Ellijay area, and throughout the Southeast. Jennifer West is the mother of their children and Carolyn Patterson is his very special companion.

Funeral Services will be held Friday, February 14th, 2025 at 2:00 pm from the Chapel of Bernhardt Funeral Home with Rev. Jess Posey officiating. Interment will follow at the East Ellijay Baptist Church cemetery. Pallbearers serving the family will be John Roberts, Ray Norton, Arnold Bradburn, Cory Allen, and Andrew Southerland.

The family will receive friends on Friday, February 14th, 2025 from 11:00 am until the service hour of 2:00 pm at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the West & Warren Foundation in care of Scott Sharp at 1095 Talona Mtn Road Ellijay GA 30536 or to the Isaiah House at P.O. Box 2241 Ellijay GA 30540.
