Mrs. Phyllis Elaine Silvers Horton, age 78 of Talking Rock, GA, passed away peacefully on Monday, May 18th, 2026.

Mrs. Horton was born on May 3rd, 1948 in Jasper, GA to the late Ernest Milton Silvers and Ozell Moss Silvers. She worked for 27 years as a paraprofessional for the Gilmer County School System, where she touched the lives of countless children through her kindness, patience, and caring spirit. She truly loved children with all her heart and found great joy in helping and encouraging them each day.

Mrs. Horton was a member of New Hope Baptist Church of Ellijay, GA and loved the Lord deeply. Her faith was an important part of her life and was reflected in the love and compassion she showed to others. She adored flowers and found beauty in God's creation, always enjoying time spent tending to them and making things around her beautiful.

More than anything, she cherished her family and treasured every moment spent with them. She was a loving mother, grandmother, sister, and friend who always put others before herself. Her gentle heart, warm smile, and caring nature will be remembered by all who knew and loved her.

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Horton is preceded in death by her son, Matthew Horton.

She is survived by her loving husband of 59 years, Mr. Elton Horton of Talking Rock, GA; son, Stephen Horton of Ellijay, GA; daughter and son-in-law, Leeanna (Jon) Davis of Ellijay, GA; sister and brother-in-law, Vonda (Terry) Patterson of Dawnville, GA; four grandchildren, Chloe Flemming, Tyler Davis, Tanner Davis, and Kaiya Davis, and one great-grandchild, Michael Flemming also survives.

Funeral Services to honor the life of Mrs. Horton will be held on Monday, May 25th, 2026 at 2:00 p.m. from the Chapel of Bernhardt Funeral Home with Rev. Wallace Parks and Rev. Bobby Green officiating. Ronald and Linda Hyde and Robin Evans will sing. Graveside Interment will follow in the Yukon Cemetery. The following gentlemen will be serving as pallbearers: Brent Chastain, Branson Chastain, Dale Corbin, Tyler Davis, Tanner Davis, and Jon Davis.

The family will receive friends on Monday, May 25th, 2026 from 11:00 a.m. until the service hour of 2:00 p.m. at the funeral home.

Flowers will be accepted; however, the family respectfully asks that no food be brought to the funeral home.
