Mr. Raymond Franklin Palmer, age 87 of Ellijay, passed away on January 7th, 2024 at his residence.

Mr. Palmer was born on April 21st, 1936, in Forsyth Georgia, to the late Grady Benjamin Palmer and Ella Louise Coleman Palmer. He worked as a security guard for Jones Transportation. Mr. Palmer was also a member of Salem Baptist Church in McDonough. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his son, David Thomas Palmer; and two sisters, Ada Jean Sorrells and Patricia Burns.

Survivors include his wife, Connie T. Palmer; four sons, Danny A. (Amanda) Palmer of Ellijay, Dale Ray (Michelle) Palmer of Jefferson, Benjamin Owen Palmer of Ellijay, and Antonio D. Thomas of Ellijay; two sisters, Karen (John) Hehir of Newnan and Cheryl (David) Dye of Locust Grove; several grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews also survive.

To honor his wishes, Mr. Palmer will be cremated, and a memorial service will be held on Saturday, January 13th at 1:00 PM from the chapel of Bernhardt Funeral Home.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Saturday, January 13th from 11:00 AM until the service hour.

Flowers will be accepted in memory of Mr. Raymond Palmer; however, the family respectfully asks that no food be brought to the funeral home.
