Rebecca Lynne
Corbitt
May 22, 1965 — Apr 5, 2024
Ellijay
Rebecca Lynne Corbitt (nee German) made her Earthly departure on April 5, 2024, at the young age of 58.
She is survived by her daughter Jennifer "Lacy" Ayotte (Kevin) and son Charles "Trey" Holmes III.
Rebecca, or Becky if you knew her back in her hey-days, was a proud mother and known to make friends anywhere she went. She grew up in Cleveland, TN and in her school years was a cheerleader, played softball, on the color guard team, and in homecoming court. She married her high school sweetheart, Charles Holmes II, with whom she moved to Brooklyn, NY after graduation. There, she gave birth to their daughter before venturing back south and eventually planting roots in Savannah where she would begin her nursing career and have their son. Later in life, she was lucky enough to find another great love in Dr. Larry Corbitt. Together they traveled and fished and lived out some wonderfully memorable years together. Her final years were spent in the mountains of Ellijay, Georgia. Rebecca was truly a fun soul, loved to crack jokes, had a generous heart, was always willing to host friends and family, and was her kid's biggest cheerleader. Being a mother was her most cherished role and it was so evident in how deeply she shared her love with her kids. Always an encourager and fearless to her final days, she had fought hard against two cancer diagnoses. Don't worry, though - cancer didn't stop her from living life the way she intended, though it is certain she had an unstoppable mindset. Illness would never define her.
Her family hopes that you remember her fondly and fun-loving just as she would want. She was not a fan of anyone lamenting over her, so shed no tears! Go have a margarita in her honor, listen to Jimmy Buffet (one of her favorites), and know she will be cheering for you in every season of life.
A non-traditional memorial service will be announced privately to friends and family.
Bernhardt Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
