Mrs. Rhonda Leigh Elrod Newton, age 51 of Ellijay, passed away on Friday, December 22nd, 2023 at the Northside Cherokee Hospital.

Rhonda was born on May 1st, 1972 in Dalton, Geogia to the late Roy Lee Elrod and Marcella Trammell Elrod. She was a Dental Assistant for East Ellijay Family and Cosmetic Dentistry and a member of the Harvest Missionary Church.

Survivors include her loving husband, Dewayne Newton of Ellijay; mother, Marcella Elrod of Talking Rock; two daughters, Courtney (Winston) Pettit of Ellijay and Lauren Newton of Ellijay; one step-son, Tyler Newton of Dalton, GA; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Keith (Whitney) Elrod of Jasper and Clay (Amanda) Elrod of Talking Rock, and two grandchildren, Ava Leigh Pettit and Madison Newton also survive.

Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, December 27th, 2023 at 2:00 p.m. from the Berean Baptist Church with Rev. Shane Stephenson and Rev. Glenn Arnold officiating. The funeral procession will leave the funeral home at 1:30 p.m. The interment will follow in the church cemetery. The following gentlemen will be serving as pallbearers: Dustin Newton, Tyler Newton, Ben Hawkins, Derick Hamby, Mike Hart, and CJ Knight.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday, December 26th, 2023 from 5:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m.

The family respectfully asks that no food be brought to the funeral home; however, flowers will be accepted in memory of Mrs. Rhonda Newton.
