Mr. Richard "Redbone" Henry Chastain, 61, of Ellijay, Georgia, passed away peacefully on February 21st, 2025, at his home.
Mr. Chastain was born on November 23rd, 1963 in Macon, Georgia to the late Ernest Grover Chastain and Helen Barnes Hudson. He was a loyal husband, devoted father, and true friend. He always put others first, offering love and support to his family and being a steady presence in his daughter and grandchildren's lives. As a husband, he shared an unbreakable bond for 31 years with his wife Crystal. A friend to many, Redbone was always ready to lend a helping hand, offering kindness, generosity, and a listening ear to anyone in need. His legacy of love and selflessness will be cherished forever.
Redbone was a loyal employee of Amicalola Electric Membership Corporation where he dedicated 41 years before retirement.
In addition to his parents, Redbone is preceded in death by step-father Bernice "Pop" Hudson, brothers Ernie and Buford Chastain and sister Carol Chastain.
Redbone is survived by his wife, Crystal Chastain, brothers Pat Chastain and Jerry Chastain of Macon, daughter and son-in-law, Colbie (Derek) Rogers of Ellijay, granddaughters Layla Grimes and Jamison Rogers, grandson Jack Henry Rogers of Ellijay, and sister-in-laws Diane Chastain and Judy Chastain of Macon.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, February, 24th, 2025 at 11:00 am from the Chapel of Bernhardt Funeral Home with Pastor, Rev. Glenn Arnold officiating. A Private Interment for family will follow at the Ebenezer Baptist Church Cemetery with a prayer by Rev. Daniel Hyatt. Serving as pallbearers will be Billy Logan, James "Opie" Neal, Eddie Goley, Billy Joe Patterson, Billy Mashburn, and Lamar Logan. Honorary pallbearers will be Derek Rogers, Stacy Rogers, Steve Totherow, Larry Farist, Vern Shultz, David Totherow, Ricky Pierce, and the men and women of Amicalola Electric Membership Corporation.
The family will receive friends on Sunday, February 23rd, 2025 from 4:00 pm until 7:00 pm and again on Monday, February 24th from 10:00 am until the service hour of 11:00 am at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to the Richard Chastain Memorial Lineman Scholarship located at United Community Bank in Ellijay, Georgia.
