Mr. Ronnie Jay Chastain, age 67 of Ellijay, passed away on Wednesday, April 17th, 2024 at the Piedmont Mountainside Hospital in Jasper.

Ronnie was born on July 17th, 1956 in Gilmer County to the late C.J. Chastain and the late Carolyn Byers Chastain. He was a graduate of Gilmer High School, Class of 1972. Ronnie was retired from Pilgrims Pride and was a member of the Pleasant Grove Baptist Church of Ellijay. He is preceded in death by his parents.

Survivors include his loving wife, Nancy Davis Chastain of Ellijay; daughter and son-in-law, Katherine (Justin) Mize of Ellijay; two brothers, Carroll Chastain of Ellijay and Jeff Chastain of Ellijay, and one granddaughter, Brooke Mize also survive.

Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, April 20th, 2024 at 4:00 p.m. from the Chapel of Bernhardt Funeral Home with Rev. Rubin Smith officiating. Interment will follow in the Yukon Cemetery. The following gentlemen will be serving as pallbearers: J.W. Chastain, Keith Chastain, David Petty, Justin Mize, Logan Pritchett, and Morgan Pritchett.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday, April 19th, 2024 from 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m.

Food and Flowers will be accepted in memory of Mr. Ronnie Jay Chastain.
