Mr. Ruben Ortiz DeJesus Sr, age 85 of Ellijay, passed away on Wednesday, February 21st, 2024 at the Heritage Hospice Inpatient Unit in Marietta, GA.

Ruben was born on January 26th, 1939 to the late Juan Ortiz Ortiz and the late Saturnina DeJesus Feliciano. He was a proud member of the Good Samaritan Catholic Church of Ellijay. In addition to his parents, Mr. Ortiz is preceded in death by his loving wife of 50 years, Eugenia Ortiz Gonzalez.

Survivors include: two sons and daughters-in-law, Ruben Ortiz Jr. (Pamela) and Wilfredo Ortiz (Olga); two daughters, Marilyn Ortiz and Judith Ortiz Gabriel; two brothers, Roberto Ortiz and Jose R. Ortiz; three sisters, Ana M. Ortiz, Eva L. Ortiz, and Augustin Ortiz; six grandchildren, Ruben Felix Ortiz Cruz, Mayrangene Ortiz-Etheridge, Felix-Ruben Ortiz, Linda Ortiz-Gupta, Julianne Gabriel, and Juliette Gabriel, and 5 great-grandchildren also survive.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, February 26th, 2024 at 2:00 p.m. from the Good Samaritan Catholic Church of Ellijay with Father Tri Nguyen and Father Bradley Starr officiating. Interment will follow immediately after the mass at the Yukon Cemetery. Music will be provided by Our Lady of the Mountains Group (OLM).

For the Reception of the Body, the family will receive friends on Sunday, February 25th, 2024 from 4:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Rosary will take place at 7:00 p.m on Sunday.

Flowers and Food will be accepted in memory of Mr. Ruben Ortiz.

Una Misa de entierro cristiano se llevará a cabo el lunes 26 de febrero de 2024 a las 2:00 p.m. desde la Iglesia Católica del Buen Samaritano de Ellijay con el Padre Tri Nguyen y el Padre Bradley Starr oficiando. El entierro seguirá inmediatamente después de la misa en el cementerio de Yukon. La música será proporcionada por el Grupo Nuestra Señora de las Montañas (OLM).
