Obituary

Shirley (Sandy) Ann McCann, née Norman, 76, of Ellijay, Georgia, passed away peacefully at her home on June 4, 2024.

She was a selfless, compassionate and devoted wife, mother, sister, aunt, and friend known and loved by so many. She was a great storyteller and had a wonderful sense of humor, always with a mischievous glint in her eye.

Sandy worked as a psychiatric nurse and dedicated her career to helping and caring for others. She attended Jerger Elementary and Thomasville High School in Thomasville, Georgia and pursued her passion for nursing at Piedmont School of Nursing in Atlanta.

She was a beloved member of Cherry Log Christian Church, where she found solace and a great sense of community. She especially loved singing in the choir. In her free time, Sandy enjoyed writing, reading, traveling and cherishing moments with her family and friends. She loved hosting holidays and get-togethers at her home where you could hear her brilliant laughter before you reached the door!

Sandy is survived by her husband, the love of her life, Charles (Charlie) McCann; daughter, Alexa Moran; son, Kimble McCann; son-in-law, Sean Moran; daughter-in-law, Naho McCann; son-in-law, Dale Weaver; grandchildren, Ethan and Isabel Crosby and Mihana and Hokuma McCann; sister Frances May and brother-in-law, Sidney May; brother, Dallas Norman; sister-in law, Joy Norman; brother-in-law Randy House; as well as nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Ashley Weaver; nephew, Jason Alley; sister, Hattie House; brother, Ralph Norman; mother, Margaret Norman; and father, Hudson Norman.

Sandy will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
