Mrs. Shirley Ann Woodring Sluder, age 86 of Ellijay, passed away Friday, October 3, 2025, at her residence.
Mrs. Sluder was born on October 14, 1938, in Ellijay to the late Noah and Artie Davis Woodring. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Ellijay. Shirley had a passion for shopping, particularly for clothes and jewelry. She loved and adored her family and had a special place in her heart for her grandson, Dallas.
Shirley was preceded in death by her parents; a daughter, Sandra Diane Watkins; a step-daughter, Renee Rogers; brothers, Edward, Walden, and David Woodring; and a sister, Virginia Goble.
Survivors include her loving husband of 46 years, Wayne Sluder, Sr., of the home; daughter, Sharon Satterfield (Rick Creekmore) of Ellijay; son, Jackson M. Watkins (Larry Jones) of Ellijay; grandson, Dallas Satterfield of Ellijay; brothers, Eugene Woodring (Carolyn) and Grandy Woodring all of Ellijay; sister, Betty Raikes (David) of Ellijay; step-daughters, Abby Chancey (Gerald) Ellijay and Shelia Cochran (Gene) of Sugar Creek; step-son, Wayne Sluder, Jr. of Ellijay; several step-grandchildren; 14 step-great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral services to celebrate the life of Mrs. Sluder will be held Monday, October 6th, 2025, at 5:00 pm from the chapel of Bernhardt Funeral Home with Rev. Alan Davenport and Landon Burton officiating. Vocals will be by Gerald Chancey and family. Pallbearers are Gerald Chancey, Chris Cochran, Hunter Watkins, William "Bug" Black, Wayne Sluder, Jr., and Cash Cochran. Honorary pallbearers are Dink and James Lanning. Interment will follow in the Yukon Cemetery.
The family will receive friends on Sunday October 5th from 4:00pm until 9:00 pm at the funeral home.
Artificial flowers are accepted, or a donation can be made to the Yukon Cemetery Fund at 163 River St., Ellijay, GA 30540. The family requests that no food be brought to the funeral home.
Bernhardt Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements for Mrs. Shirley Ann Woodring Sluder.
