Spencer Lee Barneycastle, age 86 of East Ellijay, Georgia, passed away peacefully at his residence on Saturday, August 2, 2025.

Mr. Barneycastle was born on December 12, 1938, to the late William Harvey "Billy" Barneycastle and Mamie Stewart Barneycastle. He worked for many years as a sawmill operator with Spark Lumber and Globe Communication. A man of strong faith and deep love for his family, Spencer was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He was of the Baptist faith and also a deacon of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church and a proud Mason, belonging to the Masonic Lodge #420 of North Carolina.

He is preceded in death by his siblings: Christeen "Teenie" Ireland, Sanford "Sant" Barneycastle, P.H. "Doody" Barneycastle, and Eugene "Gene" Barneycastle.

Spencer is survived by his loving wife of 68 years, Faye Barneycastle of the home; children Wayne Barneycastle, Charlotte (Ted) Stanfield, and Kenny (Tamatha) Barneycastle; sister Louvella "Lou" Kiger; sisters-in-law Wanda Cozart and Pam Barneycastle; six grandchildren; sixteen great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews also survive.

Funeral Services will be held on Monday, August 4, 2025, at 2:00 PM in the Chapel of Bernhardt Funeral Home with Rev. Norman Gibbs and Rev. David Nicholson officiating. Music will be done by the granddaughters and the Banks Family. Pallbearers will be Michael McClure, Ted Stanfield, Angel Rodriguez, Zach Hopper, Justin Stallings, Chris Crumbley, Josie Romero, and Reese Romero. Honorary Pallbearers will be Wayne Sluder, Phillip Sparks, Lane Weaver, Jay Parks, Randy McClure, and Denver Parden. Interment will follow in the Barneycastle Family Cemetery.

The family will receive friends on Monday, August 4, from 10:00 AM until the service hour at 2:00 PM at the funeral home.
