Steve R. Simpson, age 69, of Oakwood, Georgia, passed away Friday, June 27, 2025, in Gainesville, Georgia.

He was born on November 27, 1955, in Columbus, Georgia to Lucille Simpson of Oakwood, Georgia and the late Bernard Simpson.  Steve was a retired union carpenter and was a member of Woodlawn Baptist Church.  Steve was also a very accomplished musician and singer.  His instrument of choice was a guitar; however, he could play any instrument.

In addition to his mother, Steve is survived by his beloved wife, Claudia Milton Simpson, Oakwood; daughter, Rachel Charles Reed and husband Jeff, of Gainesville; son, Benjamin H. Charles and wife Mandi of Cumming; brother, Wayne Simpson and wife Robin, of Flowery Branch; sister, Gail Cronic of Oakwood; sister-in-law, Dixie Piper and husband Billy of Ellijay; three precious grandchildren, Charlie Reed, Emma Charles and Will Charles; several nephews and nieces.

To honor Steve's wishes, he will be cremated, and no services are planned at this time.
