Mrs. Sylvia "Mary" Coats Chastain age 88 of Ellijay, GA passed away on February 16, 2025.

Mrs. Chastain was born December 3, 1936, in Kenmore, NY to the late Charles and Sylvia Bartlet Perrott. Mrs. Chastain was a member of Harvest Missionary Church. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her daughter, Debra Hendrix, and brothers, Jack Perrott and Aurthur Perrott, stepson, Donald Chastain, and granddaughter Denise Crigger.

She is survived by her son, Norman (Teresa) Chastain, of Ellijay, GA; daughter, Cheryl Chastain, of Ellijay, GA; 7 grandchildren, numerous great-grandchildren; stepchildren, Danny Chastain, Norma Lowery, Kathy Chastain and Phyliss Clay; several nieces and nephews also survive.

Funeral Service will be held Friday, February 21st at 11 am from the Chapel of Bernhardt Funeral Home with Rev. Glenn Arnold officiating. Music will be by the Harvest Missionary Church Choir. Interment will follow in the Flat Creek Baptist Church Cemetery. Brent Barclay, Connor Allen, Jamie Priest, Donny Newton, Clay Vick, and Shannon Chastain will serve as pallbearers.  Danny Chastain and Jimmy Cardd will serve as honorary pallbearers.

The family will receive friends on Thursday, February 20th from 4 pm until 8 pm at the funeral home.
