Mr. Walter Jay Garland, age 72 of Ellijay, passed away on Sunday January 2 ^nd , 2022 at his residence.

Mr. Garland was born in Dalton on March 3 ^rd , 1949 to the late Joe Garland and Helen Duckett Garland. Mr. Garland was a high school graduate, Class of 1968 and was a veteran of the United States Navy. He was a retired from Amicalola Electric Company.

Survivors include his wife of 50 years, Dorothy Garland of the home; two sons, Tim Garland (Sheila), and Ernest Garland (Esmeralda) both of Ellijay; one brother, Dennis Floyd Garland of Washington; two sisters, Dr. Brenda Garland of Rome, and Karen Garnados of Kennesaw; two grandchildren, Helana Jewell Garland and Colby Jade Garland.

Funeral Services will be held on Friday January 7 ^th , 2022 at 2 PM in the chapel of Bernhardt Funeral Home with Rev. Billy Cantrell officiating. Interment will follow in Scrougetown Cemetery. Pallbearers include Zachary Wright, Joe Weaver, Mike Lambert, Brian Lambert, Ted Duvall, and Kenneth Allen.

The family will receive friends on Friday January 7 ^th from 11 AM until 2 PM at the funeral home.
