Mr. William Hollifield, age 87 of Morganton, formerly of Ellijay, passed away Friday, July 29th, 2022 at his residence.

Mr. Hollifield was born on June 5th, 1935 in Gilmer County to the late John Holifield and Ora Jones Hollifield. He was employed by Shaw Industries and was a member of Rock Creek Baptist Church. Mr. Hollifield was also a United States Army veteran. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife, Claudine Rogers Hollifield; three brothers, Bobby Hollifield, Tom Hollifield, Paul Hollifield, and David Hollifield, and sister, Pearl Wheeler.

Survivors include: two sons, David Rogers of Blue Ridge, GA and Jeff (Rhonda) Hollifield of Ellijay; two daughters and sons-in-law, Peggy (Jon) Carnes of Ellijay and Billie (Dellon) Ash of Blue Ridge; two sisters, Ruby G. Miles of Ellijay and Bertha Davidson of Ellijay; four grandchildren, Brent Robinson, Dianna Ash, Crystal Sabaua, and Laura Ash; and one great-grandchild, Sophia Ash also survives.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, August 2nd at 3:00 PM from Rock Creek Baptist Church with Rev. John Newton and Rev. Tony Gilbert officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. Pallbearers serving will be Brian Roper, William Cantrell, Mark Hice, Avery Hice, Tim Miller, and Mark Washam.

The family will receive friends Monday, August 1st from 5:00 PM until 9:00 PM at the funeral home.
