Obituary

In Loving Memory of Wilma Isaacs McCann

A Life of Faith, Love, and Dedication

Wilma Isaacs McCann, a cherished mother, grandmother, and friend, passed peacefully into the arms of her Savior on February 17, 2025. Born on July 25, 1933, in Owsley County, Kentucky, Wilma was a beacon of Christian faith, warmth, kindness, and unwavering strength throughout her 91 years of life.

Wilma was married to the love of her life, Roland Duane McCann, for more than 68 years. Together they raised three children as they moved 99 times around the country for Roland's job.

While raising her family, Wilma went back to college to fulfill her lifelong dream of becoming a registered nurse. She completed her nursing degree in 1973 from Clayton State University. Among her various nursing jobs, Wilma worked at Fayette Medical for Drs. Sams and Cole, and at Lee Middle School in Sharpsburg, Ga., retiring at age 86 after 10 years of school nursing service. She also loved to write stories and published three books: The Home, Jewel, and Pintos on the Station Wagon.

A longtime member of New Hope Baptist Church, Wilma's relationship with Jesus Christ was paramount in her life. She shared that love with her family, friends, and everyone with whom she came in contact. Wilma and Roland traveled to over 8 countries on more than 15 mission trips to places like Romania, Turkey, India, China and Thailand to share their faith.

Wilma's life was marked by her unwavering love for her family, friends, and community. She leaves behind a legacy of compassion, kindness, and dedication that will continue to inspire those who knew her. Her gentle spirit, wise counsel, and loving presence will be forever remembered.

Wilma was preceded in passing by her husband, Roland, and her parents, Charlie and Virgie Wilson Isaacs. She is survived by her children, Charles McCann, Maria McCann Schell (Rodney) and Michele McCann, grandchildren Taylor McCann (Kelli), Clay McCann (Brandi), Nicholaus Williams (Jessica Massey), Mindy Roberts, Emma Brezik (David), and Molly Schell, as well as great-grandchildren Connor, Daisy, Dax, Gramm, Lakyn, Rylan, Paislee, William, Elizabeth and Huxley.
