Ms. Yvonne Green, age 85 of Ellijay, Ga and formerly of Dalton, Ga passed away unexpectedly at home on June 4, 2024.

Yvonne was born on December 18, 1938 to parents Millard & Dimple Pendley in Kingston, Ga. She was raised by her mother and stepfather, Claude Davis, in Dalton.

Ms Green is preceded in death by her parents, father of her children, Ed Green, and son, Lynn Green, nephew, Brandon Pendley.  She is survived by her loving daughter, Lorinda Green of Ellijay; she was Nana to the true loves of her life, grandchildren Laurel (Adam) Carter, Lacey (Todd) Ridley; all of Chatsworth & Tanner Burnette of Ellijay; great grandchildren Macy & Isabella "Izzy" Carter, Skylar Burnette, & Grayson Ridley; Brothers David & Donnie Pendley, nieces Teri (Wade) Hudson, Donna (Brian) Patterson, Jill (Brady) Knight, nephew, Kane Pendley; several great nieces and nephews also survive.

Yvonne knew the value of hard work and owned and operated The Green Spot # 2 in Dalton for 20+ years. Her dream was to retire and build a cabin by a creek in the mountains, which she did in 1998. She loved being surrounded by nature and the peaceful setting of Walnut Mountain in Ellijay. Yvonne spent many years caring for her mother who came to live with her as her health declined. During this time, she and her mother were faithful members of Ellijay Seventh Day Adventist Church and never let an opportunity pass to reference a sermon and teach a lesson. Their favorite place to travel to was Pigeon Forge to see Christmas lights and watch the shows-especially Country Tonite.  After her mother's passing, Yvonne was able to fulfill another lifelong dream and purchase a beachside condo in Myrtle Beach, SC. She opened up her home away from home to family and friends and countless memories have been made at this special place.

Throughout her life, Yvonne exemplified the true meaning of generosity. Whether it was through cooking a pot of her delicious potatoes that no one else can replicate, her open door policy, or her heartfelt advice, she gave freely of herself, never expecting anything in return. Her kindness knew no bounds, and she taught us the importance of love, patience, and understanding, leaving behind a legacy of values that will continue to guide us. Yvonne was always known to be very practical & made wise financial decisions; a skill that she tirelessly tried to reinforce the importance of to her family. She kept meticulous records and had a list for everything which she always referenced and checked off. In recent years, she had learned to navigate the use of a "tablet" after many lessons by her family. We will all miss the daily GIF's & heartfelt messages that she would send us on Facebook messenger.

While we have always teased our Nana about having an elaborate funeral with lots of pictures of herself sitting around, we will respect her wishes and not hold any services to celebrate her life. What she would appreciate more than anything is a donation in her memory to your favorite charity or church.
